Krolitski’s defenders argued that the case was a partisan prosecution, noting that the lieutenant governor was a Republican and then-Attorney General Senator Catherine Cortez Masto was a Democrat. Krolitski was also indicted in 2010 when he considered running for Senator Harry Reid (D-Nevada).
