A new year has begun and a new edition of our annual public domain game jam has begun. This year, A game like 1927! There are many exciting new titles that have just entered the public domain in the United States. We invite game designers of all levels of experience, or none at all, to use our wealth of material to create new digital and analog games. Here are some of the works that are currently open to the public.
- Novels, short stories, poems and the first three The Hardy Boys books by Agatha Christie, Baroness Oaksey, Hermann Hesse, Marcel Proust, Upton Sinclair and Virginia Woolf
- Art by Ansel Adams, Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Tamara de Lempicka
- Movies like The Jazz Singer, Metropolis, Napoléon, Trolley Troubles
- Music by Béla Bartok, Ira & George Gershwin, Igor Stravinsky, Irving Berlin, Louis Armstrong, Ruth Etting, Sophie Tucker

You can sign up on Itch.io’s game jam page to see the full rules, but the most important ones are simple. Games must be based on or incorporate material from one or more of his 1927 works that are publicly registered in his domain. this year.
