ASUS’ next batch of gaming laptops promise NVIDIA GTX 40 Series graphics and better cooling

ASUS is refreshing its gaming laptops with HDR Mini LED displays, improved cooling, and updated processors and graphics. However, the company has yet to announce pricing, so it’s difficult to judge the value of the latest model.

The Nebula display will be seen on more models this year than ever before. The company’s branding indicates screens with high frame rates (120Hz for 4K and QHD screens, 240Hz or higher for 1080p), bright backlights, and vibrant colors. The new Nebula HDR variant, on the other hand, is something of an ultra-premium version that highlights a mini LED panel. For example, his Nebula HDR display on the Strix SCAR 16 is a mini-LED with 1,024 dimming zones (double his on last year’s model) and a 240Hz refresh rate. We don’t know the pricing yet, but we have no doubt that these models will top the list.

New laptops launching in Q2 will also have updated 13th Gen Intel or AMD Ryzen Zen 4 processors, depending on configuration. NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 40-series laptop GPUs enhance graphics on the highest performing variant of the new machines.

ASUS has added “intelligent cooling” to several new models, including the Zephyrus M16 and Strix models in 16-inch and 18-inch variants. The company accomplished this with a full-width heatsink that spans the back of the device. ASUS has also added his third cooling fan to more models. (This was first seen in his 2022 Flow X16.) An additional fan improves airflow to the GPU and other internal hardware.

The Strix SCAR line, which ASUS calls “performance flagships,” features 16- and 18-inch screens that are larger than their 15- and 17-inch predecessors (including the Nebula HDR in the most expensive tier). Additionally, ASUS says this year’s cooling improvements will allow these models to push higher framerates. Comparable, slightly less high-end (probably cheaper).

ASUS is also updating its lighter and thinner Zephyrus line. ROG Zephyrus M16 features a Nebula HDR display. Like some other models, the top model includes his MUX switch and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus. They use discrete graphics almost instantly, bypassing the machine’s integrated graphics. Full-width heatsink and tri-fan technology run 25 watts higher than the 2022 version.

The Zephyrus G16, on the other hand, has the same processor and graphics options as the QHD Nebula display with 240Hz support. Its smaller sibling, his Zephyrus G14, gets his Nebula HDR panel with 504 dimming zones and 600 nits of peak brightness.

ASUS’ Duo 16 is the latest in a series of quirky dual-screen laptops. Like the 2022 model, the updated version has a 16-inch mini LED panel as the main screen, and below that is a smaller 4K display for multitasking. It joins other models by offering a MUX switch.

The company also updated ROG Flow, a 2-in-1 tablet PC aimed at gamers. Equipped with a hinge that rotates 360 degrees, the Flow X13 is equipped with a 13-inch Nebula display that supports a 165Hz refresh rate. Additionally, ASUS has redesigned the chassis, keeping the same keyboard layout, but 10mm smaller and with more battery capacity (from 62 to 75 Wh). The company also enlarged the touchpad and redesigned the 2-in-1 hinge for better ventilation and better grip.

A big companion to the X13, the Flow X16 features an HDR Mini LED touchscreen with a 240Hz refresh rate and 1,100 nits peak brightness. Additionally, all ASUS 2023 Flow devices use Corning’s Gorilla Glass DXC. This increases hardness by 40% and reduces glare. Meanwhile, the Microsoft Surface-like detachable Flow Z13 for gamers is updated with new Intel and NVIDIA components and his QHD Nebula display with a 165Hz refresh rate.
